Greetings everyone. I pray you’ve received information of value from the segments about the distractions that derail purpose. If you will recall from Part 1 of our discussion on the Distraction of “Good Works”, we mentioned several types of distractions, including dubious distractions. “Dubious distractions” are distractions that come by way of a planned and assigned attack from the enemy, more specifically, offenses. Greetings everyone. I hope you’ve had a chance to listen to Part 1 of our segment the Distraction of “Good Works”. This week we are continuing with Part 2. I pray last week’s topic was helpful or at least gave cause for consideration.

Have you noticed any time you set a goal to accomplish a task or improve any area of your life that something or someone always seems to come along and deter you from that goal? In today’s podcast, We will discuss distractions we face on the journey toward purpose.

#008 Fit for Purpose

Are you fit for purpose? Are you prepared for the calling that is on Your life? Well, not to worry. Although God allows us to see bits and pieces regarding our destiny or calling, He never reveals the processes involved in arriving at the designated place. Sometimes processing can feel like you are “Jason and the Argonauts” and you have to past the 12 test of character to acquire the golden egg… or was it a golden fleece? I don’t really remember. You can think of any treasure hunt movie where the hero is trying to acquire an ancient artifact and there are sure to be some riddles, puzzling problems, test of character, and some dicey villain trying to derail you or prevent you from succeeding on your mission. This is certainly how we may feel sometimes on our journey to purpose. There are important reasons why God takes us through processing. In this week’s podcast we discuss the importance of going through and being a willing participant in the process.

#007 Closed Doors and Grace for the Journey

Are you in a season of discovering purpose or discovering the next phase or purpose for your life? While on the journey for purpose we can face disappointments and experience emotional turmoil which often stems from closed doors. God gives us glimpses of our destiny but he never reveals the processes involved for the journey. The journey for purpose requires that we be steadfast in the midst of disappointments and emotional pain. Our minds filled with unending questions –when Lord when, what Lord what, how Lord how, and why Lord why, cause us angst.

We are required to be patient as God unfolds piece by piece our purpose and ultimate destiny. However, we can become so emotionally enthralled with the closed doors and lack of responses to our flurry of questions that we lose hope or belief in our destiny. We can’t grasp how any of what we’re going through is related to where we’re going to. It is a painful process but there is always grace on the journey.

#006 The Root Cause of Comparison

Today I’m back with another purpose-related topic, “The Root Cause of Comparison”.  You will find this podcast categorized later under “Getting and Maintaining Focus”. In our search for purpose, we encounter numerous distractions. These distractions can be relationships or even our own insecurities. Comparison is one distraction that can detour us from purpose. At some point in our lives we have compared our looks, possessions, physical appearance, children, successes; not to mention our spiritual gifts and callings against that of others. I’ve engaged in comparison as it relates to my height. Those of you who know me, know that I am vertically challenged.

Regarding our God-given purpose, we engage in comparison and judge ourselves inadequate to carry out the call on our lives. While meditating on the concept of comparison, I needed to understand the root cause of comparison in order to effectively war against it with the Word.

In today’s podcast, I share two types of comparison though opposite in thought, share the same root cause, pride.

“Purpose” Part 3 – A Personal Story of Uncovering Purpose w/ B. Doucette McCray

Everyone’s journey or story of uncovering purpose is different. Perhaps you have come to know your purpose in the kingdom in a unique way. Maybe you had a dream or a vision. Or perhaps someone spoke into your life with clear direction regarding your purpose. Or maybe you came to know your purpose through a trial, a hardship, or through an internal or external problem that needed to be resolved. Sometimes we can be intimated by others in our search. Oftentimes the enemy tells us, “God does not have a place for us in the kingdom, we are too old, or that we are inadequate or unworthy to be used by God.” The list goes on. The enemy definitely does not want us to walk, or even crawl for that matter, into purpose. Remember, how you start the journey or uncover purpose is not important: It is important that you start and finish the journey.

I am back with Part-3 in the series on “Purpose”. In Part 1, we addressed the question, Does God Have a Plan for My Life? In Part 2, we addressed the question, How Do I Uncover My Purpose? if you have not had a chance to listen to Part 1 and 2, I encourage you to take a minute and listen. I believe you will find something to encourage or help you on this journey. Today, I have asked a dear friend, Mrs. Bridget Doucette McCray, to share her personal story on uncovering purpose.
